Sharing the submission tracker may expose account email addresses

Source references: 3
What we found

The template includes an “Account Email” field alongside each platform's status and public listing URL.

Why this matters

If the CSV is shared with contractors, published, or uploaded to a broad workspace, others could associate login emails with particular platform accounts for targeted phishing or account enumeration.

What this evidence establishes

The tracker does centralize account email, submission status, and live URLs, and the output rules permit linking or including the CSV. If a populated tracker is shared publicly, it could expose an email address and campaign details. However, the source does not require publishing, uploading, or sharing the populated tracker and contains no real email. Exposure therefore depends on how the user stores and shares it. Users can keep account email out of shareable copies or treat the tracker as private.

This assessment concerns the code and conditions shown, not proof that harm has occurred.

A planning request may be expanded into unconfirmed external publication

Source references: 4
What we found

The Skill is triggered for planning the directory layer, but its workflow then directs the agent to fill forms, upload assets, and submit without requiring confirmation of each destination, final copy, account, or cost.

Why this matters

If the agent has browser access or authenticated sessions, it could publish product details, images, or claims on the user's behalf. Mistaken listings may be difficult to withdraw and could affect the brand, platform accounts, or launch eligibility.

Legitimate use of this code

These steps are a user-facing submission checklist, while the specified output for a “directory plan” is readiness, batching, copy, and a tracker. The source contains no script, browser automation, account-login flow, or instruction to publish on the user's behalf. These lines therefore do not support an unauthorized-submission claim. If the user separately requests execution, each account, final copy, and possible fee should still be confirmed.

This assessment concerns the code and conditions shown, not proof that harm has occurred.

The Product Hunt strategy includes making an account look real and triggering algorithmic distribution

Source references: 3
What we found

The Skill recommends patterned engagement and mass following so the account “looks real,” targets 50-plus supporters to trigger distribution, and highlights wording that avoids anti-manipulation filters.

Why this matters

Even without directly requesting upvotes, coordinated activity intended to influence ranking may be treated as manipulation, potentially causing the post to be hidden, account restrictions, or reputational harm.

The Skill explicitly frames scheduled engagement and mass following as making an account “look real,” and targets 50 supporters to “trigger algorithmic distribution.” Its requirements for thoughtful comments and prohibitions on soliciting votes or messaging strangers reduce the risk, but the strategy still aims to influence platform ranking and could result in demotion, hiding, or account penalties. Users can ask that these gaming-oriented targets be removed and require current Product Hunt policy compliance.

Paid thank-yous may breach review rules or undermine credibility

Source references: 2
What we found

The Skill directs users to offer a $25 gift card and broadly states that G2 and TrustRadius allow it, without requiring verification of current campaign rules, disclosure, or assurance that payment is independent of review sentiment.

Why this matters

Where a platform, jurisdiction, or campaign prohibits or requires disclosure of incentives, reviews could be removed and the vendor profile restricted. Prospective customers may also view the rating as purchased.

The Skill recommends a $25 gift-card incentive and states that it is allowed, but does not require checking the campaign type, region, disclosure requirements, or current platform terms, nor does it say rewards must be independent of rating or sentiment. If policies differ or have changed, reviews could be removed or distrusted and the vendor account could be restricted. Users should require current official policy citations, disclosure, and sentiment-neutral incentives before acting.

1. **Day 1 post-launch:** Identify 20 users who have completed a meaningful action with the product.2. **Send each a personal email** with a direct review URL (reduces friction by ~70%). No forms, no landing pages — direct link.3. **Offer a modest thank-you.** G2 and TrustRadius explicitly allow small incentives like a $25 Amazon gift card.4. **Follow up once** after 5 days. Don't follow up twice — it becomes annoying and damages the relationship.5. **Target:** 50% conversion → 10 reviews from 20 asks.

Mass profiles and content created purely for DR may form a spam-link pattern

Source references: 6
What we found

The catalog recommends creating profiles or publishing on content and identity platforms for backlinks, and explicitly presents local directories as useful to any product seeking pure DR-building links. This can extend beyond genuine business relevance.

Why this matters

Large numbers of irrelevant profiles, mirrored content, or directory entries may violate platform rules, lead to account bans, and create an unnatural-link pattern that harms search visibility and brand reputation.

The catalog goes beyond publishing genuine relevant content: it recommends local directories for “any product” seeking pure DR-building links and lists creating profiles or content across blogging, site-building, and file-sharing services for backlinks. This conflicts with the main file's genuine-fit rule. At scale, it could create irrelevant or policy-incompatible profiles and content, harming brand and search reputation. Users can restrict submissions to platforms genuinely relevant to the business and verify each platform's rules.

The suggested curl checks cannot reliably determine whether a page link is dofollow

Source references: 3
What we found

`curl -sIL` normally retrieves HTTP headers, not the HTML body containing an anchor's `rel` attribute. Concluding that an absent `rel` means dofollow may therefore mean the link was never inspected. The alternative command searches headers for `link`, which likewise does not verify the target anchor.

Why this matters

A nofollow, UGC, redirected, or missing link may be recorded as a valid dofollow backlink, distorting SEO decisions and further spending of time or money.

With `-I`, `curl -sIL` normally retrieves response headers rather than the HTML body containing the product anchor and its `rel` attribute. No `rel=` match therefore does not prove a link is dofollow. The reference's second curl example also inspects headers only. Relying on this can produce false backlink records and misguided SEO decisions. Users should require a body/DOM-based check that also accounts for redirects and client-rendered pages.

Public performance, compliance, and customer claims lack a pre-publication verification gate

Source references: 6
What we found

The B2B template asks for percentage outcomes, SOC 2/GDPR posture, customer logos, and case studies, while the workflow proceeds by copying a variant and submitting it without requiring evidence or final user approval for these sensitive claims.

Why this matters

If an agent guesses or completes placeholders from incomplete context, it could publish false advertising, unauthorized endorsements, or incorrect compliance statements, creating complaint, delisting, contractual, or regulatory risk.

What this evidence establishes

The B2B template includes consequential claims about measured results, compliance, customer endorsements, and case studies, while the workflow says to copy a variant and submit without an explicit evidence or approval gate. However, these remain bracketed placeholders, the library says to replace them with real values, and it calls for real numbers, so false publication is not established. Users should require every metric, certification, logo, and case study to be user-supplied and individually approved, leaving unverifiable fields blank.

SKILL.md:15In the instructionsOpen original file
**Check for product marketing context first:**If `.agents/product-marketing.md` exists (or `.claude/product-marketing.md`, or the legacy `product-marketing-context.md` filename, in older setups), read it before asking questions. Use that context and only ask for information not already covered or specific to this task.

Ask the user these 9 questions. If any are "no", they're not ready — help them build the missing piece first.

A "no" on any of 1–7 is a hard block. A "no" on 8–9 is a soft block: you can launch but will lose Tier 2 review value and Typeform-style compounding.
