The “official Anthropic brand” claim may create an unauthorized appearance of affiliation

What we found

The Skill directs the agent to apply Anthropic’s official look and feel to “any” suitable artifact, but the license expressly grants no right to use trade names, trademarks, service marks, or product names. The styling document provides no evidence that Anthropic authorizes the user to represent its brand.

Why this matters

Public, marketing, or customer-facing output could be mistaken for material published, endorsed, or sponsored by Anthropic. Using Anthropic names, marks, or product names may also exceed the permissions expressly provided by the bundled license, creating takedown, complaint, or reputational risk.

The Skill expressly claims to apply Anthropic’s “official” look and broadly targets any artifact that may benefit from it, while the included license expressly grants no permission to use trade names, trademarks, service marks, or product names. Using the listed colors and fonts alone is not automatically trademark use or impersonation, but a public artifact presented as “official Anthropic” styling could create affiliation or endorsement confusion, exposing the user to complaints or removal. The user can ask the author to document authorization for the brand assets and restrict use to contexts that do not imply Anthropic endorsement or affiliation.
